Diversity and Inclusion

United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community.

We know the work of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is unique to every United Way community around the world. Below is United Way Worldwide's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement of Principle which outlines our commitment to building sustainable, inclusive and resilient organizations and communities.

We take the broadest view of diversity.

We value the visible and invisible qualities that make you who you are.

We welcome that every person brings a unique perspective and experience to advance our mission and progress our fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community.

We believe that each United Way community member, donor, volunteer, advocate and employee must have equal access to solving community problems.

We strive to include diversity, equity and inclusion practices at the center of our daily work.

We commit to using these practices for our business and community.

Join us in embracing diversity, equity and inclusion for every person in every community.

Live United.

United Ways across Iowa came together to create a 21-Day Equity Challenge to raise awareness about the particular ways racism, discrimination and inequities affect our state. Through the self-guided, online journey, participants will develop a better understanding of important issues, reflect on their personal journey, and identify actionable solutions - large and small - that can create meaningful change over time.

  • 100% free and open to anyone
  • Topics include: implicit bias, child care, mental health, housing disparities, generational wealth and more

Join thousands of your fellow Iowans to develop a deeper understanding of what holds people back in our state - and what small steps you can take to help create a more equitable Iowa for everyone. Click the link below to view the entire 21-Day Equity Challenge content.
