United Way Golf Classic Held

WATERLOO, IA—Cedar Valley United Way hosted its tenth annual United Way Golf Classic on Friday, June 16, at the South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo. The event, presented by SCHEELS, helped raise the first dollars of the 2017 campaign.
Teams of four played eighteen holes with an 8-inch cup best shot. First-, second-, and third-place winners of each flight were rewarded prizes of golf bags, clubs, balls, or apparel. Additional flag events were available for longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt.
The United Way Golf Classic focuses on bringing people together to score a hole-in-one for our community. Each year at the United Way Golf Classic, we play golf to change lives. We aspire to strengthen the Cedar Valley by Living United.
SCHEELS events leader, Jeremia Matz, explained that SCHEELS enjoys sponsoring the Golf Classic because they “get to be part of such great organizations like United Way and give back to our local community.”
Jeremia’s favorite aspect of the event is how “all the organizations come together for such a great cause.” United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community. We win by Living United.
Together, we raised $38,072! Your support helps make our community Cedar Valley Strong. After the success of our United Way Golf Classic, we are especially looking forward to our next major event, Rally for the Valley. This event kicks off our 2017 campaign on August 30th. Over 500 business professionals will be there to raise excitement for United Way’s work and this year’s campaign.
