Areas of Focus

The goal of Cedar Valley United Way is long lasting change that prevents problems from happening in the first place. Here in the Cedar Valley, we're focused on three critical issues:

Helping Children and Youth Succeed
· Enhancing the quality of child care services
· Increasing school readiness
· Expanding youth involvement in community service and leadership

Strengthening and Supporting Vulnerable Populations
· Assist people in meeting basic needs such as nutrition, respite, transportation and advocacy
· Providing opportunities for community inclusion
· Providing counseling and intervention services

Promoting Self-Sufficiency and Poverty Reduction
· Helping individuals or families become more financially independent on human services
· Help people build abilities, skills and credentials that make it possible for them to become and remain self-sufficient
· Support people in crisis today so that they may stabilize their situation and become self-sufficient in the future

Thanks to your contributions, the Cedar Valley United Way funded 90 programs in 2007 in the three focus areas above. Click on the links above to learn about the programs funded in each of these areas.
