Funding Available to Local Agencies

Grants will be allocated for programs and services assisting individuals negatively impacted by the economy.

WATERLOO—Cedar Valley United Way is announcing a short-term grant program to assist local social service agencies in the Cedar Valley United Way service area (a thirty mile radius of the metro). The fund will grant money to agencies that provide programs and services to individuals that are being impacted negatively by the economy. These funds will be utilized to meet increased demands placed on human service agencies and services. These dollars are not intended to replace government funds that have been cut.

During time of crisis, many individuals and families face barriers that hinder their ability to continue to have independent, healthy and productive lives. It is the intention of Cedar Valley United Way to ensure there is adequate capacity to assist.

Local agencies have until Tuesday, September 8 to declare their intent to apply for funding from Cedar Valley United Way. If interested in applying, complete the letter of intent.

Cedar Valley United Way will use its volunteer driven Community Impact Process to review applications and determine awards. Agencies that have not received funding in the current year will need to complete an Agency Profile and Stewardship review in addition to the current application. A final decision on the awards will be made in October. Please contact Kelly Knott at kelly.knott@cvuw.org or by calling 319-235-6211, ext 13.

In 2009, Cedar Valley United Way provided more than $2 million in funding for programs throughout the Cedar Valley that focused on helping children and youth succeed, supporting the elderly and disabled, and poverty reduction.
