Cedar Valley United Way to Hold Rally for the Valley Event

WATERLOO, IA – The community is invited to attend the Rally for the Valley, Cedar Valley United Way’s annual campaign kick-off. The luncheon event will be held Wednesday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the 5 Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, Waterloo.

Bob Justis will serve as emcee for the event and will officially kick off the 2008 Cedar Valley United Way campaign. Speakers for the luncheon include Cedar Valley United Way Board Chair Ken Nelson and 2008 Campaign Chairs Mayor Tim Hurley and Kathy McCoy. Community members will have the opportunity to learn more about the need here in the Cedar Valley as well help raise money to kick start the campaign through a live auction.

All money raised during the Rally for the Valley will go toward the Cedar Valley United Way campaign. For the 2008-09 year, the Cedar Valley United Way provided funding to 91 programs throughout the Cedar Valley that focus on helping children and youth succeed, supporting the elderly and disabled, and poverty reduction.

Tickets for the event are $20 per person or $150 for a table of eight and may be reserved by calling 319-235-6211 or e-mailing unitedway@cvuw.org by Friday, August 22.
