Cedar Valley United Way Providing $20,000 Boost to Matched Savings Accounts
WATERLOO, IA –Cedar Valley United Way is providing a $20,000 grant to Veridian Credit Union to boost their matched-savings program. The grant supports Veridian's Individual Development Account (IDA) savings program available to low-to-moderate income residents in and around Black Hawk County.
IDAs match deposits dollar for dollar up to $2,000 for education, job training, home or car down payment or a small business. The accounts include financial education for the depositor.
Cedar Valley United Way's investment is part of a Building Savings Project supporting the development of personal savings plans for individuals and families. United Way's goal is to help people in the Cedar Valley avoid a financial crisis.
"It's gratifying to have Cedar Valley United Way support Veridian's ongoing work in matched savings for our members," said Veridian's Community Inclusion Manager, Angela Weekley. "IDAs are an important tool helping Veridian support our communities."
Individuals with limited incomes may contact Jennifer Platt at 319-833-4500 for information on eligibility and other requirements of the IDA program.
