Cedar Valley United Way Looking for Volunteers to serve on Community Impact Teams
WATERLOO, IA –Cedar Valley United Way is looking for volunteers to serve on Community Impact Teams (CITs) who help guide grant funding distribution. CITs review grant applications, conduct site visits to funded partners, develop investment recommendations for the Board of Directors, and monitor and evaluate funded programs throughout the grant period.
There are three CIT teams, each focused on one of United Way’s impact areas – education, income and health. Each team consists of individuals who have experience or expertise in that particular area. Involvement from others without experience who share passions for strengthening lives and helping people, and are committed to enhancing the community conditions in the Cedar Valley is also encouraged.
“I served on a CIT in previous years. I met some very good people committed to making the Cedar Valley a better place to live,” said Denise Flory, a volunteer for Cedar Valley United Way. “During the grant review process, I learned about area agencies and services provided to target populations, which has been beneficial in directing people with concerns to the ‘best’ resources. The Cedar Valley is my home. Serving on a CIT will allow me to be actively involved in improving our community, and making it a better place for all residents.”
